Man for Reward- Businessman, or Man for Conceit- Human??

Well this topic may seem funny and the question implied may seem simple to answer, as whomever I asked, agreed that they belong to the second category i.e. “Man for Conceit- Human”. But I think there’s more and thus, I write this article to share with U my take on the subject.

As humans we have a lot of perceptions about different things, perceptions through which we live & lead our lives, but sometimes we fail to think & understand the right things. It’s not just about doing the right things or doing things right. I’m not discriminating against anyone or trying to hurt anyone, but I just want everyone to think for a few moments and realize where we stand as human beings.

At every step of our lives, we take decisions with a motive of profit, and yet still we call ourselves human and pretend to be human. Now let me tell you, we are not humans, but we are businessmen whose objective is to make a profit out of any transaction we do. Profit can be in any form such as financial or non financial but it should be something that benefits us from some mean.

We call ourselves human but still we keep ourselves intact with business policies. Why aren’t we doing things to satisfy our inner self, why have we become so bound by fear and ‘love’, that we forget our inner self?? Love for our so-called loved ones and a lack of fear of God have taken us far away from our inner selves.

When we were kids we wanted to get into good schools and score good marks so that we could get into a good college. Then later we joined college with an objective to score well and get placed in good companies, where we would get good salaries. We educate ourselves for 15-20 yrs with a motive of getting into a reputed company or getting married and staying happy.

Every parent wishes that their child will get married to a person who can keep them happy. As matured adults, we also look for a person who can keep us happy, understand us at every step of the way, someone who will support our every decision. Young people like you and I talk so much about love and relationships. But have we ever thought of marrying a beggar on the roadside or a person who is handicapped? The answer is NO because we look for someone who we can relate to, someone who can understand us & keep us happy, but more so, someone who fits into our ideal idea of the perfect partner. We always run behind our own level of self satisfaction at every level of life.

For an example imagine that a prostitute loves a guy sincerely. Do you think that guy will marry her? No, there are people who may say “yes” but it’s hard to believe that such people actually exist still in 2010! As we look to maintain values & and a good image in society, we think taking those decisions is like craving our own grave.

We need a life partner who will understand us, who will support our every decision, so, isn’t it our main motive to marry that person? If we think we are human then why are we failing to understand other humans? Where the values & principles of life? From the time we are born, we do things which is gives ourselves good returns and this mentality has unfortunately followed us at every stage of human life.

William Shakespeare has beautifully defined the seven stages of human life where in man plays different roles from a just born baby to an old man. Just take few moments out of your life and think whether you are taking decisions to actually satisfy your inner self. The following are a few comparisons that prove that we are not humans, but businessmen, as we always expect some returns for ourselves.

We pray with an intention that God will bless us and will save us from evil and the dark, or any other motive. We love or marry a person with a motive of being happy our whole lives .We study and educate ourselves with a motive of living a better life. We do charity as well, with an intention that God will bless us as there is a famous saying “what we are is God’s gift to us and what we do others, is our gift to God”.

We maintain friendship with people whom we trust and know, rather than keeping friendship with a beggar or his or her children. We conduct so many talks on social cause and indeed act upon them at certain times because we think we will be rewarded for our good deeds. We do everything in life with some motive behind it because we always actually intend to be benefitted from the decisions we take.

I just want all of you to think along the following lines. If we take every decision in life with a motive of personal benefit, then what is the difference between businessmen & humans?? It is high time we draw a line to differentiate businessmen with humans. We should pray to God without any intentions, and rather, we need to Trust God ,and believe that He is with us at every step of the way, and in everything we do and that all things happens according to Him only.

We need to do charity without an intention of getting future returns for ourselves and our children. We need to educate our children with an intention that they will learn to do the things which will satisfy their inner selves. We need to act upon every situation but not with a motive of profit. As humans we need to understand that we all are the same, and that not everyone thinks before they act or take decisions. Let us put in an effort to end our current style of living like businessmen and begin from this moment on, to live with an intention of becoming better human beings.

We get hell out of the businessmen on earth. So let us give back to our mother earth, her real sons, “HUMANS”.
